Summary:This invention addresses the problem of safely stopping a power supply device when a current detection terminal enters an open state or a transformer short-circuits in a switching-control-scheme power supply control IC. There are provided: on/off control signal generation circuits (33, 34) for generating a signal for performing on/off control of a switching element for intermittently channeling a current through a primary-side coil; a current detection terminal into which a voltage proportional to the current flowing through the primary-side coil of a transformer is inputted; a high-impedance pull-up means provided between the current detection terminal and a terminal to which an internal power supply voltage or a voltage corresponding thereto is applied; and a terminal monitoring circuit for comparing the voltage of the current detection terminal with a predetermined voltage and determining the current detection terminal to be faulty upon detecting that the voltage of the current detection terminal is higher than the predetermined voltage. When the terminal monitoring circuit detects a fault in the current detection terminal, the signal generation operation of the on/off control signal generation circuit is stopped, the power supply control IC is prevented from restarting, and the power supply device remains stopped.
