The invention relates to a mopping system having a mopping implement, with a mop-head plate (4), and having a container (1), wherein a mopping cloth (11), which at least partially covers the underside of the mop-head plate (4), can be fastened in a releasable manner on the mopping implement, and the container (1) has an upper opening (15) of such a size that the mop-head plate (4) can be inserted into the opening (15) with its underside arranged parallel to the plane of the opening of the container. In the case of the known mopping systems, the container and mopping implement have to be stored separately, and the mopping implement, when being used, has to be leaned against a wall or a piece of furniture. The invention improves this scenario in that it provides fastening means which can fasten the mop-head plate (4) on the container (1) such that the mop-head plate (4) at least partially closes, or covers, the opening (15) of the container (1).
