Sole structures (1000, 500, 700) for articles of footwear (300, 600, 800), including athletic footwear (300, 600, 800), include: (a) an outsole component (100, 110, 710, 910); (b) a midsole component (1040, 140, 400, 740, 940) engaged with the outsole component (100, 110, 710, 910), wherein the midsole component (1040, 140, 400, 740, 940) includes at least one opening (140B, 940B) or receptacle; (c) at least one fluid-filled bladder (220, 920) system or foam system provided in the opening (140B, 940B) or receptacle; and/or (d) a rigid plate (150) system including one or more rigid plates overlaying the fluid-filled bladder (220, 920) or foam system(s).
