Summary:A system (1) for monitoring living beings, such as persons, pets or livestock comprises a monitoring device (10) for monitoring a living being and a user device (20), such as a smartphone, which devices are arranged for communicating via an internet type connection (40), and a server (30) arranged for communicating with the user device (20) via a further internet type connection (50). The server (30) is provided with a software program for periodically initiating, through a software program in the user device (20), a protocol for testing the internet type connection (40). The system is thereby capable of detecting a loss of the internet type connection (40) between the monitoring device and the user device.
