Summary:The present invention relates to an enamel composition comprising: a glass frit; from 0.1 % to 20% by weight of a stabilizer per 100g of the glass frit; from 0.001 % to 1 % by weight of an inorganic salt per 100g of the glass frit; from 0.01 % to 0.7% by weight of reducing agent per 100g of the glass frit; from 0% to 0.04% by weight of an anionic surfactant per 100g of the glass frit; from 40 to 100 mL of water per 100g of the glass frit; wherein: the anion of the inorganic salt is selected from the group consisting of nitrate, sulphate and phosphate; the reducing agent is selected from the group consisting of alkaline metal nitrite, alkaline earth metal nitrite and mixture thereof; the fineness of grinding of the glass frit is comprised from 0/16900 to 12/16900 measured by the Bayer enamel test sieve; and with the proviso that the enamel composition is absent of halogenated anions; a process for its preparation; a process for the preparation of an enamel coating by an electrophoretic porcelain enamelling process using the enamel composition of the invention and the enamel coating obtainable by the process.
