A rotary machine (1) is provided with: a flange section (16) protruding in the radial direction of a rotating shaft (5) which rotates about an axis (O) and rotating together with the rotating shaft (5); a stationary bush (13) disposed at a distance in the direction of the axis (O) from the flange section (16), surrounding the outer peripheral surface of the rotating shaft (5), and provided in a housing (4) supporting the rotating shaft (5) so as to be immovable in the direction of the axis (O) relative to the rotating shaft (5); and a rotation bush (10) which is disposed between the flange section (16) and the stationary bush (13) so as to be sandwiched therebetween in the direction of the axis (O), covers the outer peripheral surface of the rotating shaft (5), and is rotatable relative to the rotating shaft (5) and the housing (4) while floating in fluid (OI). The rotation bush (10) has, on the surface thereof which faces the direction of the axis (O), a land surface (25) and a tapered surface (26) which is continuous with the land surface (25).
