Summary: | The present disclosure relates to a curved liquid crystal display and a manufacturing method thereof. The curved liquid crystal display comprises a first substrate (110), a second substrate (210) facing the first substrate (110), a liquid crystal layer (3) between the first substrate (110) and the second substrate (210) and including liquid crystal molecules (310), a first alignment layer (11) between the first substrate (110) and the liquid crystal layer (3), and a second alignment layer (21) between the second substrate (210) and the liquid crystal layer (3). The first alignment layer (11) and/or the second alignment layer (210) comprises a polymer, for example, polyimide, including a main chain and side chains connected to the main chain, wherein one or more of the side chains include at least a photo-reactive group capable of undergoing photodecomposition such as benzophenone. The liquid crystal layer (3) comprises a reactive mesogen; the liquid crystal display is fabricated by irradiating the liquid crystal while applying an electric field. The photo-reactive groups can react with the reactive mesogen and forms bumps (15, 25) on the surface of the alignment layers (11, 21). |
