Summary:When a fourth sun gear 24s is held stationary so as to be unrotatable, a Ravigneaux type planetary gear mechanism 25 transfers power, which has been transferred from an input shaft 20i to a third carrier 23c, to a third sun gear 23s and a third ring gear 23r with the speed of the power increased such that the rotational speed of the third sun gear 23s is higher than the rotational speed of the third ring gear 23r. A clutch C2, which corresponds to the third sun gear 23s which rotates at a higher speed than that of the third ring gear 23r, is disposed between the Ravigneaux type planetary gear mechanism 25 and a second planetary gear 22 disposed in proximity to the Ravigneaux type planetary gear mechanism 25 with respect to a first planetary gear 21.
