Summary: | A pneumatic tire (1) comprising a carcass and an innerliner (10) is disclosed. The innerliner (10) comprisies a film (10B) comprising a blend of a polyamide, an ±-olefin graft copolymer and an ionomer. An adhesive layer (10A) is disposed between the film (10B) and the carcass, the adhesive layer (10A) comprising a polymeric amine and a resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) adhesive. Also, a method of building a pneumatic tire is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of exposing an innerliner film to a corona discharge to create a corona treated film, the innerliner film (10B) comprising a blend of a polyamide, an ±-olefin graft copolymer, and an ionomer; disposing a polymeric amine onto the corona treated film to create an amine treated film (10B); disposing a resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) adhesive (10A) on the amine treated film (10B) to create a treated innerliner film; and incorporating the treated innerliner film into a tire build such that the treated innerliner film is in direct contact with a tire carcass. |
