Summary: | An all-vanadium redox flow battery and an operation method thereof, which belong to the field of flow batteries. The all-vanadium redox flow battery comprises a positive electrolyte and a negative electrolyte. A total vanadium ratio of the positive electrolyte and the negative electrolyte is maintained at the following ratio: positive electrolyte: negative electrolyte =1:1.5-1:1.2. Both the positive electrolyte and negative electrolyte comprise additives, the concentration of the additives being 0.01mol/L-0.5mol/L. the additive is at least one selected from sulfuric acid, sulfate, phosphoric acid, phosphate, pyrophosphate, and polyphosphate. The all-vanadium redox flow battery can operate with high-energy-density, and can also significantly reduce the irreversible discharge capacity attenuation caused by a hydrogen evolution side-reaction. |
