Summary:While a vehicle is decelerating starting at a braking start time (t0), start-off pre-shifting (deselection of a selected gear train and selection of a first gear gear train) is begun starting at a time (t1) at which speed falls to a predetermined vehicle speed. At a vehicle stoppage time (t2) at which Nc = 0, an idle stop permission flag (FLAGa) is not set to on if start-off pre-shifting (first gear engagement assessment) is not complete, even if idle stop permission conditions including vehicle stoppage have been met. FLAGa is set to on at a time (t3) at which start-off pre-shifting is completed, and an idle stop flag (FLAGb) is set to on and the engine stopped at a time (t4) at which engine rotational speed Ne falls below a set rotational speed. The engine is restarted in response to braking being released at a time (t5), and FLAGb is set to off and idle stop control ended at a time (t6) at which Ne reaches or exceeds a set rotational speed. The restarting of the engine causes an engine-driven oil pump to dispense oil, and the oil can be used as a medium to manifest an automatic clutch command hydraulic pressure Pc. From a time (t7) to a time (t8), the engagement of a starting clutch is advanced, and the vehicle can be started off starting at a time (t9).
