Summary:A sample collection device (10) for a fluid, such as body fluids like blood, urine or saliva, includes: a substantially disk-shaped body having a periphery; a capillary channel (11) extending through the body and bounded by the periphery, having a first end (12) and a second end (13), wherein the first end (12) is adapted to draw the fluid into the channel (11) by capillary action; a sample collection well (14) located in the vicinity of the second end (13) and in fluid communication with the capillary channel (11); and an axis of rotation extending through the center of the disk and which is substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of the disk-shaped body. In a preferred embodiment, the sample collection device is adapted to rotate about the axis of rotation within a cartridge of a fluid measuring device, such as a lateral flow assay, wherein the cartridge has a housing comprising an air vent (32) in fluid communication with the capillary channel (11) when the disk is rotated in a first position.
