Summary: | This invention relates to a new class of polyester diols for Waterborne Polyurethane Dispersions (WPU) that requires less solvent for processing and film formation when prepared in stoichiometrically identical polymers than current systems. They also offer the benefit of higher hardness with reduced isocyanate demand and superior abrasion resistance when compared to other polyester diols currently available. The diols of the present invention are derived from the reaction products of either di-acids, or conventional oligomeric polyols utilizing a sequential ring opening reaction with tertiary alkyl glycidyl esters and anhydrides. |
