Summary:Described is a needle safety device (1) comprising a needle hub (1.2) including an axial stem (1.2.4) having one or more grooves (1.2.5), a needle (1.3) having a distal tip (1.3.1), a needle shield (1.1) telescopically coupled to the needle hub (1.2) and including a first aperture (1.1.2) for allowing the needle (1.3) to pass through, and an inner sleeve (1.4) rotatably coupled to the needle shield (1.1) and including a second aperture (1.4.2) for allowing the needle (1.3) to pass through. The inner sleeve (1.4) includes one or more resilient arms (1.4.3) adapted to engage the groove (1.2.5). In a first axial position (PA1) and a first angular position (P1), the needle shield (1.1) covers the distal tip (1.3.1) of the needle (1.3) and the first aperture (1.1.2) is aligned with the second aperture (1.4.2). In a second axial position (PA2), the distal tip (1.3.1) of the needle (1.3) is through the first aperture (1.1.2) and the second aperture (1.4.2) and extends distally beyond the needle shield (1.1). In a third axial position (PA3) and a second angular position (P1), the needle shield (1.1) covers the distal tip (1.3.1) of the needle (1.3) and the first aperture (1.1.2) is not aligned with the second aperture (1.4.2).
