Summary:The invention relates to a tumble drier 1 having a heat pump 7, 8, 9, 10 comprising a drive 8, and having at least one further functional element 11, wherein the tumble drier 1 has a thermoelectric generator 13, a warm side 15 of the thermoelectric generator 13 is located on the drive 8, a supply outlet 16 of the thermoelectric generator 13 is connected electrically to the at least one further functional element 11 of the tumble drier 1, and the at least one further functional element 11 comprises a cooling device 11. A method serves for operating such a tumble drier 1, wherein waste heat from the drive 8 is used for operating a thermoelectric generator 13, and the thermoelectric generator 13 operates at least one functional element 11 in the form of a cooling device 11 of the tumble drier 1.
