Heterocyclic neoflavonoid derivatives (I), are new. Heterocyclic neoflavonoid derivatives of formula (I) or its salts, are new. either E : OH; or 2E : O; R1 : 5 or 6-membered heteroaromatic group, which is optionally substituted and comprises N, O and S; either R2 : H or ORb; or optionally two immediately adjacent R2 : OCH 2O; and Rb : H, 1-5C alkyl or 2-5C alkenyl. Independent claims are also included for: (1) heterocyclic neoflavonoid derivatives of formula (II); (2) a composition for oral intake comprising (a) at least one heterocyclic neoflavonoid, and (b) at least one substance with a bitter, astringent and/or metallic flavor impact; and (3) masking unpleasant taste impressions in the composition for oral intake, comprising using an active amount of (I).
