The high temperature short time process thermally denatures unmodified tetrameric hemoglobin (hemoglobin dimer form), protein impurities (e.g. immunoglobin-G, serum albumin), bacteria, and viruses so that renal injury, vascular detrimental effects and other toxicity reactions can be avoided.
