Summary:An optical fiber connector that is mechanically connectable to another optical fiber connector. The optical fiber connector includes an optical fiber with a bare end. The bare end has an end face and includes a core and a cladding that surrounds the core. The cladding has a radius of curvature at the end face in the range from 0.4 mm to 4 mm, and/or the core protrudes from the cladding with a protrusion height in the range from 10 to 200 nm, preferably in the range from 10 to 150 nm, and more preferably in the range from 30 to 60 nm.
