Method for producing polysulfones and polysulfones

Producing polysulfone polymer comprises (a) reacting a component A comprising at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound, preferably 4,4 '-dihydroxybiphenyl or bisphenol S with a component B1 comprising bis-(haloaryl)sulfone, preferably 4,4'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone in the presence of a base...

Summary:Producing polysulfone polymer comprises (a) reacting a component A comprising at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound, preferably 4,4 '-dihydroxybiphenyl or bisphenol S with a component B1 comprising bis-(haloaryl)sulfone, preferably 4,4'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone in the presence of a base, which reacts with 0-12 wt.% reaction mixture containing entraining agent with a boiling point of greater than 130[deg] C to form water, and (b) adding at least one controller (component D1), which is monohydric phenol, during and/or after the reaction of the component A with component B1. Producing polysulfone polymer comprises (a) reacting a component A comprising at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound, preferably 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl or bisphenol S with a component B1 comprising bis-(haloaryl)sulfone, preferably 4,4'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone in the presence of a base, which reacts with 0-12 wt.% reaction mixture containing entraining agent with a boiling point of greater than 130[deg] C to form water, where greater than 0.99 to less than 1.01 equivalents component A is used based on 1 equivalent component B1, and the reaction is carried out in a solvent comprising N-alkylated pyrrolidones, and (b) adding at least one controller (component D1), which is monohydric phenol, during and/or after the reaction of the component A with component B1. An independent claim is also included for the polysulfone polymer obtained by the above mentioned method.
