Summary:A network management system, a method, and a computer program product for automated trap configuration are disclosed. The network management system (100) includes at least one managing device (102) and one or more managed devices (104). Each managed device (104) is configurable for sending a trap message to said at least one managing device (102). The managing device (102) retrieves a trap configuration object (200) from at least one managed device (104), parses said trap configuration object (200) to determine availability of desired trap destination information, and transmits one or more configuration instructions to said at least one managed device (104) to suitably process said trap configuration object (200).
