Summary: | The controlling method involves the use of an EGR valve arranged upstream of the brake flap (6) and recirculation line that connects the exhaust gas system to the engine intake system. The EGR valve (13) is opened in dependence upon the predetermined operating parameter of the internal combustion engine (1) so that the degree of opening of the EGR valve is predetermined in dependence upon one of the current sensed and determined value of the operating parameter in the engine braking operation. An independent claim is also included for a controlling device for engine braking operation in an internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle. |
