Summary:A printing plate (1) is lifted from a printing plate stack (2) by a removal element (3). The alignment of plate stack in plane of printing plates is detected by a sensing element (6). The orientation of plate stack is compared with desired orientation of printing plate in storage position (4), and the deviation of detected orientation is determined from target orientation. The upper printing plate of plate stack is lifted and moved in direction of storage position by rotary movement or linear movement, based on determined deviation so that the detected deviation is balanced. An independent claim is included for a device for separating printing plate from printing plate stack. Problematisch bei der Vereinzelung von Druckplatten (1) von einem Druckplattenstapel (2) ist es, dass bei einem fehlausgerichteten Druckplattenstapel (2) die Druckplatte (1) an nicht definierten Positionen durch das Entnahmeorgan (3), d.h. z.B. durch Sauger (11), ergriffen wird. Hierbei kann es zu Beschädigungen der besonders empfindlichen zu belichtenden Flächen (20) kommen. Erfindungsgemäß ist es daher vorgesehen, dass eine Ausrichtung des Druckplattenstapels (2) in der Ebene der Druckplatten (1), die Ausrichtung des Druckplattenstapels (2) mit einer Sollausrichtung der Druckplatte (1) verglichen wird, wenigstens eine Abweichung ermittelt wird, wenigstens ein Entnahmeorgan (3) die oberste Druckplatte (1) des Druckplattenstapels (2) abhebt und in Richtung einer Ablageposition (4) transportiert und die Druckplatte (1) in Abhängigkeit von der ermittelten Abweichung so bewegt, dass die ermittelte Abweichung im Wesentlichen ausgeglichen wird.
