Summary:An electrode for a rechargeable battery, the electrode comprising a current collector having a coated region and an uncoated region adjacent the coated region, wherein in the coated region an active material layer is provided on the current collector and in the uncoated region the collector is free of the active material layer, wherein the current collector is characterized by an x-ray diffraction pattern in which a ratio of the FWHM of a largest peak:the FWHM of a second largest peak of the current collector in the uncoated region is greater than a ratio of the FWHM of a largest peak:the FWHM of a second largest peak of the current collector in the coated region.
