Summary:The microfluidic test carrier has a substrate, a covering layer and a capillary structure formed in the substrate. The capillary structure is enclosed by the substrate and the covering layer. The capillary structure has a receiving chamber (6), a sample chamber (8,10,11) and a connection channel (9) provided between the receiving chamber and the sample chamber. The receiving chamber has two opposite boundary surfaces and a side wall. The receiving chamber has a surrounding venting channel (16) and a surrounding dam (18) that is arranged between the receiving chamber and the venting channel.
