Summary:The method involves shifting a position of an operating plateau with respect to a rotational speed of an electric motor (6) by setting a desired rotational speed range of a work apparatus (50) i.e. chain saw (20), and by setting a desired operating rotational speed, where the operating plateau is located in an operating rotational speed range. The operating rotational speed range and the operating rotational speed are preselected such that a power characteristic line is scaled to the preselected operating rotational speed range and the preselected operating rotational speed. An independent claim is also included for a work apparatus. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betrieb eines Elektromotors (6) in einem Arbeitsgerät (1), mit einer zwischen einer unteren Drehzahl des Elektromotors (6) und einer oberen Drehzahl des Elektromotors (6) verlaufenden Leistungskennlinie (30, 31, 32, 33). Die Leistungskennlinie (30, 31, 32, 33) hat eine Leistungscharakteristik mit einem ausgeprägten Maximum (M) und einem in einem Arbeitsdrehzahlbereich (AD) des Arbeitsgerätes (1) liegenden Arbeitsplateau (AP). Um über einen breiten Drehzahlbereich stabile Arbeitspunkte zu erreichen, ist vorgesehen, die Lage des Arbeitsplateaus (AP) über der Drehzahl (n) des Elektromotors (6) verschiebbar zu gestalten.
