Summary:The invention relates to chemical technology, particularly to methods for production of lactic acid from glycerol. The proposed method contains following steps: i) obtaining of mono-metallic supported platinum containing catalyst by following consecutive steps: a) obtaining of platinum-containing precursors by extraction of platinum compound from hydrochloric acid solution with trioctylamine ((C 8 H 17 ) 3 N) solution in toluene, b) carrier impregnation with the platinum containing organic precursor solution, obtained in the previous step, c) drying of the impregnated carrier, d) platinum pyrolytic reduction; ii) glycerol oxidation by molecular oxygen in the presence of supported platinum-containing catalysts in alkaline aqueous solutions.
