Summary: | The invention provides a process for the preparation of the polymorph from I of agomelatine, characterized by the following crystal data: C15H17N02 Mr = 243.30 Orthorhombic Pca21 a = 31.501 (4) Å b = 9.5280 (10) Å c = 17.906 (2) Å Z = 16 the process comprising the process steps of: a) dissolving agomelatine in a solvent to obtain a solution, b) adding the solution to an organic anti-solvent having a temperature of 30°C or below, whereby crystals of the polymorph form I of agomelatine are formed, wherein the solvent of step a) is miscible with the anti-solvent of step b), c) isolating the crystals of the polymorph form I of agomelatine and d) optionally drying the isolated crystals of the polymorph form I of agomelatine. |
