Summary:A method and apparatus for managing a flight of an aircraft. Conditions in an environment around the aircraft are monitored during the flight of the aircraft. In response to detecting a number of changes in the environment around the aircraft, determining whether the changes affect a current route. If so, a determination is then made as to whether the aircraft has the capability to make changes to the route in response to the number of changes in the environment. In response to a determination that the aircraft has the capability to make changes to the route, making changes to the route using a route analysis and planning process and a resource allocation process before returning to the monitoring step.
