Summary:Methods and apparatus are provided for adaptive filtering of prediction pixels for chroma components in video encoding and decoding. An apparatus includes a video encoder for encoding picture data for at least a portion of a picture. The video encoder includes an adaptive filter for performing filtering of prediction data used to generate an intra prediction for a chroma component of the portion of the picture. The filtering is adaptive with respect to at least one of filter parameters for the filtering and whether the filtering is used or bypassed.
