A display substrate includes an insulating substrate, a first gate line (GL1), a first lower electrode (113_1), a second lower electrode (113_2), a first upper electrode (114_1), and a second upper electrode (114_2). The insulating substrate includes a first pixel region (PA1) and a second pixel region (PA2) located along a first direction (D1) from the first pixel region (PA1). The first gate line (GL1) extends in a second direction (D2) crossing the first direction (D1) on the insulating substrate. The first and the second lower electrodes (113_1, 113_2) are in the first and the second pixel regions (PA1, PA2), respectively. The first upper electrode (114_1) overlaps the first lower electrode (113_1) in the first pixel region (PA1) and includes a first slit pattern (115_1) extending in at least one of a third direction and a fourth direction different from the first and the second directions (D1, D2), wherein the third direction is different from the fourth direction. The second upper electrode (114_2) overlaps the second lower electrode (113_2) in the second pixel region (PA2) and includes a second slit pattern (115_2) extending in at least one of fourth direction and the third direction. The second slit pattern (115_2) is symmetric to the first slit pattern (115_1) with respect to the second direction (D2).
