Summary: | A principal substance is applied to a receiver surface then transferred from the receiver surface to a substrate. Drops of a gating agent are ejected to form a negative image on the substrate and/or on top of the principal substance on the receiver surface in order to prevent the transfer of principal substance to the substrate in the areas defined by the negative image. The principal substance may be ink and the gating agent may be used to effect color correction. A cylindrical receiver surface may be used to form a printed image greater than the circumference of the receiver surface. The gating agent and the substrate may be provided with like electrostatic charges to prevent the transfer of the principal substance. |
