Lighting system and method for testing whether at least two gas discharge lamps to be operated with a ballast are of the same type
The method involves directly or indirectly measuring a coil voltage and a coil current of heating coils (W1b, W2b) of gas-discharge lamps (L1, L2) at a time period. Coil resistances of the heating coils are measured from the measured values of the coil voltage and the coil current of the heating coi...

Summary: | The method involves directly or indirectly measuring a coil voltage and a coil current of heating coils (W1b, W2b) of gas-discharge lamps (L1, L2) at a time period. Coil resistances of the heating coils are measured from the measured values of the coil voltage and the coil current of the heating coils of the gas-discharge lamps. An absolute differential resistance from the coil resistances is smaller than a high reference value. The gas-discharge lamps are determined as not same-type, when the absolute differential resistance lies between the high reference value and a low reference value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a circuit e.g. integrated circuit, for implementing a method for testing whether two gas-discharge lamps are of same-type (2) an electronic ballast comprising a unit for generating a constant coil voltage. |
