Summary: | Use of binder alloy powder containing 0.1-10 wt.% of molybdenum in alloyed form to produce sintered hard metals based on tungsten carbide, is claimed, where the binder alloy powder: has a Fisher Sub Sieve Sizer value of 0.5-3 mu m, measured according to ASTM B33O, and comprises 0.1-65 wt.% of iron, 0.1-99.9 wt.% of cobalt, and 0.1-99.9 wt % of nickel. An independent claim is included for pre-alloyed powder comprising 0.1-65 wt.% of iron, 0.1-60 wt.% of cobalt, 10-80 wt.% of nickel and 0.1-20 wt.% of molybdenum in metallic form and balance amount of impurities, where the pre-alloyed powder has a Fisher Sub Sieve Sizer value of maximum of 3 mu m, measured according to ASTM B33O. |
