Summary:The device (10) has a light source arranged in a housing (20) for generating light to illuminate an object to be examined. A coupling device (42) directly or indirectly couples a proximal end of an endoscope to the device, and transmits light from the device to the endoscope. A display (32) is arranged at a front surface (23) of the housing for viewing an image that is detected by the endoscope. The front surface and a rear side surface of the housing are inclined about an angle between 5 and 15 degrees to a rear side of the device with respect to a base surface (21) of the housing.
