Summary:A mixture (I) of flaky, copper-containing metal-effect pigments (II) with a copper content of 60-100 wt.% (based on total metal) and other component(s) (III), in which the pigments (II) show a thickness distribution (by thickness counting with SEM) with an h50 value of 10-100 nm and an h90 value of 20-150 nm, and (III) comprises cellulose derivatives such as alkylcellulose, hydroxy-alkylcellulose, alkyl(hydroxyalkyl)cellulose or their mixtures and/or antioxidants and/or radical-inhibitors. Independent claims are included for (1) coating materials containing (I) and preferably a printing ink or ink concentrate, a varnish or varnish concentrate, or a dye or dye concentrate (2) objects coated with (I) or the above coating materials containing (I) (3) a method for the production of (I) by (a) milling copper-containing metal chips with a particle size distribution of d50 = 1-180 microns and d90 = 2-430 microns and a copper content of 60-100 wt.% in presence of lubricants, milling balls and optionally solvents, and (b) mixing the resulting pigment (II) with other component(s) (III) .
