Summary: | The invention relates to a method, intended for use in a motor vehicle provided with an engine stop/restart system, for detecting an unintentional release of the clutch or brake pedal when the pedal is pressed during the stopping of the engine under the control of the aforementioned stop/restart system. The method comprises the following steps: detection of the passage of the pedal through two different positions, calculation of the time taken for the pedal to pass from one position to the other, and comparison of said time with a reference time in order to obtain information that authorises or inhibits the restart of the engine by the stop/restart system. |
