Summary:The present invention is directed to a system for balancing a pneumatic tire/wheel assembly (501) and to a method of balacing a pneumatic tire using such a system. The system comprises a tire and wheel assembly (501) having a thixotropic gel (503) disposed within an interior of the tire and wheel assembly; and a machine (500) for rotating and vibrating the tire and wheel assembly (501) in a plane at least substantially parallel to an equator plane of the tire and wheel assembly, wherein the machine (500) is configured to operatively rotate the tire and wheel assembly (501) at an angular velocity that produces at least substantially a combined vibration frequency of the tire and wheel assembly and the machine.
