Summary:The method involves detecting a position of a vehicle, and determining an actual lane segment based on the detected position and digital mapping data of a lane. A class of the actual lane segment is determined according to a curvature course (502) of the lane in the actual lane segment based on the digital mapping data. Track information is detected for identification of the lane in the actual lane segment, where adaptive filtering of the track information is enabled depending on the class of the actual lane segment. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product having a set of instructions for performing a method for determining a course of a lane traveled by a vehicle (2) a device for determining a course of a lane traveled by a vehicle.
