Summary:A method of optimizing radio access resources within a sector in a mobile network, wherein said sector has at least a GSM cell and a UMTS-900 cell and shares at least GSM-900 cell radio resources and UMTS-900 cell radio resources, the method comprising the steps of: checking at predetermined intervals whether there is at least one user equipment supporting UMTS-900 within said GSM cell or UMTS-900 cell; and if there are no user equipments supporting UMTS-900 within said GSM cell or UMTS-900 cell, reconfiguring said UMTS-900 radio resources into a plurality of GSM-900 radio resources. A network entity of a mobile communications network comprising means for carrying out the method.
