Bistable magnetic nano-switch

The device has a magnetic mobile element (50) moved with respect to a fixed element i.e. substrate (52), and an activation unit for activating the mobile element. A magnetic unit (30) defining a plane generates remanent magnetization along a direction contained in the plane. Another magnetic unit (4...

Summary:The device has a magnetic mobile element (50) moved with respect to a fixed element i.e. substrate (52), and an activation unit for activating the mobile element. A magnetic unit (30) defining a plane generates remanent magnetization along a direction contained in the plane. Another magnetic unit (40') defining another plane generates remanent magnetization in a direction contained in the other plane. A reversing unit i.e. conductor (36), reverses the direction of the remanent magnetization of the magnetic units comprising Cobalt-Platinum multilayered stacks by thermal effects.
