Summary: | To form the rim base, an outer flange (3) of the circular blank, which extends up to the rim dish, is angled down. It is pressed by a roller (11) reducing the wall thickness of the flange. From this material, an angled collar (4) is formed. Using one or more forming rollers, flange and collar are formed to produce the curved outer edge profile or horn, on the rim base. The collar (4) is formed by pressing part of the flange material against the resting surface (13) of a setting block (8). The flange and collar are then pressed at right angles, the collar being reduced to a different wall thickness in comparison with the flange. The flange is bent down to below 45[deg] with respect to the radial. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment. |
