Summary:Marking of the surface (1a) of a glass substrate (1) includes a stage of mechanical marking in the viscous state of specific viscosity by mechanical contact with a surface (41) of a marking material. The decimal logarithm of the viscosity of the substrate define in poise is chosen to be greater than 4 and less than or equal to 11. At least one of the substrate and the marking surface are flat and move in translation, the relative speed between the marking material surface and the surface of the substrate being non-null. Independent claims are also included for: (a) the marking device used for this method of marking; (b) the marked glass substrate.
