Balanced power amplifier with a bypass structure

A power amplifier arrangement comprises a first switch (18) which alternately switches an output signal (RF IN) between a bypass path (52) and an amplifier path that comprises a driver stage (22). The output of the driver stage (22) is connected to a first coupler (26) producing an-phase output sign...

Summary:A power amplifier arrangement comprises a first switch (18) which alternately switches an output signal (RF IN) between a bypass path (52) and an amplifier path that comprises a driver stage (22). The output of the driver stage (22) is connected to a first coupler (26) producing an-phase output signal and an out-of phase output signal. A fourth terminal of this coupler (26) is connected to a second switch (28) which alternately switches between the bypass path (52) and a termination impendence (32). The in-phase and out phase signals are amplified by first and second amplifiers (38,40), respectively. The amplified signals are coupled to the second coupler (42) providing a combined output signal (RF OUT).
