The invention provides an expandable medical device (100), comprising: a plurality of elongated struts (18) forming a substantially cylindrical device (12) which is expandable from a cylinder having a first diameter to a cylinder having a second diameter; hinges (20) formed at said elongated struts (18) to substantially prevent deformation of said elongated struts (18) during expansion of said cylindrical device (12), and links (22) arranged between said elongated struts (18); wherein a series of openings (24, 26) are formed in said struts (18) and/or said links (22).
