Summary: | The invention relates to a method for measuring the level and inclination of the surface of a liquid, in particular of oil in a container. According to said method, an ultrasonic transducer emits an ultrasonic wave and receives a signal that is reflected by the surface and the propagation time of the received signal is measured. The intensity of the received signal is also measured and the level and inclination of the surface are determined based on the propagation time, the intensity and a known sonic field characteristic of the emitted ultrasonic wave. The method thus permits two values, which measure the level and inclination, to be determined using a single ultrasonic transducer. |
