Catalyst based on ferrierite / iron used for the abatement of N2O and catalytic reduction of nitrous oxide

Catalyst for decomposing nitrous oxide (N 2O), comprises agglomerated ferrierite-type zeolite having an initial sodium and potassium form, which is ammonium-substituted and optionally iron-substituted, where the iron, sodium and potassium is present at 0.1-2 wt.%, 0.1 wt.% and 0.7 wt.% of the zeolit...

Summary:Catalyst for decomposing nitrous oxide (N 2O), comprises agglomerated ferrierite-type zeolite having an initial sodium and potassium form, which is ammonium-substituted and optionally iron-substituted, where the iron, sodium and potassium is present at 0.1-2 wt.%, 0.1 wt.% and 0.7 wt.% of the zeolite, respectively. Independent claims are included for: (1) a preparation of the catalyst comprising setting the catalyst comprising mixing the catalyst with a binder and extrusion of the mixture in the form of agglomerated granules, calcining the granules at a temperature of 350-450[deg] C, ambient cooling followed by a substitution by ammonium salt into aqueous solution at 50-80[deg] C, washing by soaking in demineralized water, followed by partial iron substitution with an aqueous solution of iron salt, washing again by soaking in demineralized water, followed by drying on trays at 80-110[deg] C; (2) a process for treating waste effluents containing N 2O, comprising decomposition of N 2O on a catalytic bed comprising the catalyst for decomposition; and (3) a process of simultaneous reduction of N 2O and nitric oxide (NOx) by ammonia, on a single catalytic bed, using a catalyst as a catalyst for reduction.
