A method for treating transformer components contaminated with transformer oil comprises the steps of: a) providing a treatment chamber (1) for at least one transformer component (C) to be treated; b) forming in the treatment chamber (1) a solvent vapour atmosphere of a solvent for said transformer oil; c) extracting the transformer oil from the at least one component (C) by means of condensation of the solvent vapour on the component (C); d) removing from the treatment chamber (1) a liquid extraction mixture comprising the solvent and the transformer oil extracted from the at least one component (C). The invention also refers to a system for carrying out such method.
