Summary:The inventive closure (1), in particular for sealing plastic bottles consists of at least two components, wherein the first component (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) is made of a plastic material, the second component (9) closes an oxygen scavenger and the first and second components are connected to each other in such a way that the second component has a free surface which is formed thereby and is provided with an active surface having a profile (9a, 9b) in such a way that said active surface is larger than the corresponding active surface devoid of said profile, i.e. with respect to a substentially flat surface. The type and concentration of an oxygen-absorbent material and the selection of the active surface profile are mutually adjustable in such a way that the sufficient amount of oxygen is removed from a bottle. For the production, in particular a two component-injection moulding process is used.
