Summary:The system for bolting two components (A, B) together while leaving a gap (SP) between them comprises a coil (2) which is fitted over the bolt (4) and held there by friction or a fastening. The coil fits into a spiral entry section (6) on a bore in the first component. As the screw is driven home it forces the coil into the space between the components and then passes through the second component. Independent claims are included for: (A) the compensating coil; (B) the bolt; and (C) a component with a spiral entry section for use in the system.
