Summary:The coupling unit has two on/off coupling faces (33, 34) connected together by waveguide (31) running inside the coupling unit. The waveguide has end faces arranged at both on/off coupling faces corresponding to a pattern of waveguides (11-14, 21-24) of two coupleable waveguide arrays. The waveguide (31) is formed in such a manner that light guided in the waveguide (31) experiences a total reflection with larger in-coupling angles about 45 degree traversing of the waveguides. The waveguide (31) is assigned to a respective waveguide pair of the two waveguide arrays.
